He Dreamed of Orchestrating a Life of the Imagination

Copper, brass, enamel, mixed media,  19"x31"x6"

Inspired by the mysteries of life, Morgan Brig’s copper and enamel works are both playful and contemplative. Her three dimensional wall sculptures are typically conceived in words by the writings in her journal. There, she explores human nature and the inner dialogue of individual character. Brig then expresses these ideas through symbols, icons, and even written text embedded onto her surfaces. The labor intensive method of torching glass enamel and hand-hammering copper sheets reveals her love of the process and suggests her curiosity for the evolution of materials. Repeating images of birds, palm trees and figures have both archaic references and express personal narrative. Brig is profoundly captivated by concepts of alchemy, and the ways in which science, math, and the unknown can reflect beauty.
