Evan Gray Gregory

Working primarily in ceramics, Evan Gray Gregory uses painterly, sculptural forms to explore personal experience, transformation, and the layered identities of motherhood. Through stacked and figurative compositions, her work carries a quiet strength—grounded in balance and alive with emotional and psychological depth. The bodies echo one another in form and proportion, their stillness suggesting reflection and resilience, as if each figure is learning to hold its own weight with grace. Faces, finished in soft washes, evoke tenderness and presence, contrasting with bold, patterned garments and vessel-like bases to enrich the visual and emotional landscape. Threading structure, color, and restraint, Gregory’s sculptures gather a fragile harmony—composed, precarious, full of possibility.

Originally from Stave Falls BC, Canada, Gregory relocated to the United States in her early twenties. She earned her BFA from Western Washington University and her MFA from the University of Washington, where she also taught courses in photography, theory, and criticism. Her work has been exhibited in both solo and group shows, including at the Henry Art Museum and the Jacob Lawrence Gallery, and she has been an active member of SHIFT Studio, a collaborative space for emerging artists in the Pacific Northwest. After years focused on design and entrepreneurship, and then on raising her daughter, Gregory has returned to her studio to find new forms of expression and deepen her creative practice.
