Whether painting, sculpting, or writing and playing music, Terry Turrell’s creative output is an expression of how he processes and makes sense of the world around him. Each piece is a response, a part of the ongoing conversation of the artist’s life. His materials reflect this spontaneity, incorporating found items like jar lids, scrap metal, tree branches, peeling paint, or bits of wire, paper, and fabric. A singer-songwriter since his twenties, Turrell has reached a point now where his various artistic modes are nearly indistinguishable. His three-dimensional work has been woven into the construction of his paintings; his music has become visual.
