jd Hansen
Working in bronze, jd Hansen’s sculptural works are informed by both human and animal form. On a visceral level, Hansen explores the juxtaposition of vulnerability and strength. The elongated figures & subtle body language presented in each work also surveys the dynamic complexities of human psychology, non-verbal communication and theories of quantum physics.
Hansen’s paintings are inspired by her Pacific Northwest upbringing. Despite now living in California, the artist recalls the unique quality of light, the softness in the sky, the way moisture creates prisms bringing life to gray mists. The text she incorporates is just as layered as her luminous colors, meshing together to create a new whole, just as a place writes its essence upon our hearts.
Internationally recognized, Hansen received her BFA from the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. She has received numerous awards and her sculptures can be found in many private and corporate collections including the permanent collection of Seven Bridges Museum in Greenwich, CT.
