Z.Z. Wei’s “Rough Road” marks the artist’s 29th annual exhibition at PRG. It has been an amazing journey for both gallery and artist enjoying many adventures and weathering many a storm. However, nothing prepared either artist or gallery for what was laid before our feet with the pandemic and for the second year in a row, Z.Z. has had to create paintings in the face of an ongoing global crisis.
“Rough Road” speaks to the difficulties in keeping the inner spirit nourished, the creative process churning and the artistic fires burning. The paintings in the exhibition deliver hope & optimism, and convey the capacity for the psyche to recover from adversity.
